Corsica Ferries
Corsica Ferries buys a new ship, the ship in question is the Amorella and will change its name to Mega Victoria.

Is there a source for this? Whilst I think it is plausible, I've not seen it verified anywhere.

So this will mean Viking Line's Stockholm-Helsinki route going down to one vessel then presumably?

Now confirmed - see the Viking Line thread.
Thanks to @ManiaNave for tipping us off before the news broke.
One good thing for Corsica Ferries with the Amorella is that she has an upper car deck (aft on Deck 5) which might save them the painful trouble of ripping out the Deck 2 below car deck cabins like they have had to do to create extra garage space on their previous ex-Baltic cruise ferries (I assume the Deck 5 garage can be accessed from the main car deck via ramps, Viking Line use side loading facilities I think to get at this).
If the Amorella does replace Corsica Victoria, which would seem inevitable, then that is the end for an absolutely legendary ship, one of the all-time classic car ferries.

Mega Victoria sarà consegnata nell'ottobre 2023 e non dovrebbero esserci modifiche sostanziali agli interni
Mega Victoria will be delivered in October 2023 and there should be no substantial changes to the interiors.

I’m really bummed I didn’t get the opportunity to take a cruise on Amorella when I was in Finland this summer.

The Amorella (to become Mega Victoria) has entered the Mediterranean for the first time since her delivery voyage from Yugoslavia 34 years ago.

😀
Note the long obsolete 'SF' (for SF Line) on her bow is really clear when painted over with a coat of yellow.

I must say that I love, both the red hulls of Viking Line and the yellow hulls of Corsica Ferries.

Any ship with a significant hull colour always looks far better than an all white ship with a logo.
I'm hoping that one day a company is brave enough to follow ONE container ships and go with Magenta, I think they look great.

Another Viking Line name about to be painted out. Here's a new view of the ship in dry dock from Kirill on Navi e Armatori. Her new yellow Mega Victoria name board in the normal CSF style can be seen on the upper decks.

According to the port of Bastia, it seems that the first Savona-Bastia crossing of Mega Victoria is now scheduled for may, the 19th at night.

Seems so that she gets more hoistable car-decks for bigger car-capacity ?

A nice image, thanks for sharing. She is going to look nice and smart in that livery (most ships do).Markmeister89 wrote: ↑28 Jan 2023 13:24 Found this on Facebook.

They will do whatever they can to get the car capacity of these ships up - the Amorella isn't quite as bad in that respect as the Mariella, Svea, Wellamo were as she has that upper car deck already. But the number of cabin berths vs space for cars on all of them is a bit out of kilter for Corsica Ferries' needs.
It remains to be seen if they have taken a bulldozer to the Deck 2 cabin areas to create additional car deck space as has been done to the earlier three ex-Viking/Silja ships.

Have they done that at deck 2 with Mariella as well?hhvferry wrote: ↑28 Jan 2023 17:02A nice image, thanks for sharing. She is going to look nice and smart in that livery (most ships do).Markmeister89 wrote: ↑28 Jan 2023 13:24 Found this on Facebook.

The problem with Amorella’s extra car deck is that I’m almost 100% certain it can’t be reached via the normal car deck. All terminals of Viking in the Baltic have a special side ramp for it and I’ve never seen a way to get there inside of the ships main car deck. Perhaps they will try to construct something for that aswell.
