Finlandia Seaways trials in Jersey

Post by BenMyChree »

But we’ve been Consistently told Commodore Clipper is ‘Jersey Max’

IF she can successfully Berth, she would surely only be capable of doing so in perfect conditions. Doesn’t really add much resilience does it?

I wonder if Ports of Jersey are looking to see exactly what work is needed to accommodate larger Vessels in St Helier?

The disruption caused to Saturdays Condor Sailings and Christmas Shopping DayTrips, Ports of Jersey have chosen a very poor day to try this.

It's does seem strange that they've cancelled sailings for this to happen.

Here's Condor's statement on the subject.

The timing and very short notice of this suggests to me it may be a politically motivated response to this news item from last week:

Increased freight prices will affect Jersey - Condor

Interesting they (Jersey) complain about the price increases in the article when Guernsey Ports increases their prices by between 12 & 22% above inflation according to the BBC!

Guernsey have a vested interest in not undermining Condor don't they? Not that they could stop anyone using a berth when it is free presumably.

Questions are as to the short-medium term viability of Condor
