Nine deficiencies noted during inspection of the ferry "Isle of Inisheer"
[Translated]
The Secretary of State for the Sea gave, on November 18th, the details of a port state control inspection of the Cypriot flag ferry Isle of Inisheer, of Irish Ferries, which has been operating between Calais and Dover since the beginning of the year. Hervé Berville had made it, 15 days earlier, the illustration of the way in which he intends to tackle social dumping, during the presentation of his plan at the Assises de l’économie de la mer in Lille .
At the end of the inspection, nine deficiencies were noted, which had to be rectified within less than 15 days. "French port State inspectors verify that ships comply with standards arising from international conventions applicable to the protection of the marine environment (Marpol convention), the safety of human life at sea (Solas convention) and living and working conditions of seafarers (MLC convention)”, indicated the Secretary of State on its Linkedin account.
On 7th November, inspectors from the ship safety centre of the East Channel-North Sea Interregional Sea Directorate intervened on the Isle of Inisheer. “The inspectors examined aspects relating to the standard and familiarisation of the crew with the rescue and firefighting procedures. They were also able to talk individually and confidentially with several crew members about their working conditions and compliance with international standards in this area.
