Sun jokes aside, I - I don’t get this letter.  I know the writer probably meant Poole, but to St Malo?  In Feb 2020?  Which ship would that have been then?  Remembering back, Barf was in winter lay up and NEX was not serving Poole (and not a Condor boat either) She would have been laid up as well.  Confused!

The trip was to be in June 2020, just booked in Feb. Had they been travelling in Feb they would have been fine. Lockdown was end of March.

I presume the writer meant Portsmouth and it would be Bretagne. That price is about right for that crossing at that time of year.

Yes, I guess it would have been Portsmouth, the writer does seem rather confused about the port.  I could not think for the life of me think of any crossings to St Malo from Poole, unless Condor via the CI.

I think the people of Merseyside have the right idea about what to do with that newspaper.

My local keep old newspapers for me to use to light the fire. This is usually the Indy or Observer, one time however, they had picked up a load from a relative and duly gifted them to me. On getting home I found I had a carrier bag filled with copies of the SUN.

Next day I stormed into the pub in fake anger and told the landlord very loudly that I had asked for paper to light the fire, not toilet paper.

Went down rather well.
