Beniamino Carnevale goes to auction

On 28/07 the ferry “Beniamino Carnevale” was auctioned and its base sale price is € 3.200.000,00 and bids must be submitted by September 3 at 1 pm by bank transfer.

Here are the most important terms and conditions of sale:

•The buyer assumes any risk relating to the state and operation of the goods that make up the motor ship “Beniamino Carnevale” and it will be his responsibility to carry out any verification regarding the conditions of law and de facto of the Good; the buyer assumes responsibility for any risks related to the conformity of the goods and rights that make up the motor ship “Beniamino Carnevale” Will be borne by the buyer, with the originator’s exemption from any guarantees and charges in this regard.

• The disposal of the flag (in case of award of the Motonave to a Buyer who expressed interest in the transfer to another foreign register) and the cancellation of the Motonave from the international register of Naples will be requested, by the Compagnia Italiana di Navigazione Spa, and will take place at the same time as the transfer of ownership.

•The notary charges related to the transfer of ownership of the motor ship “Beniamino

Carnival” will be borne by the successful bidder.

•As regards the Name, Coat of Arms and other distinctive signs, on delivery, Buyers will be obliged to change the name of the Motorboat and to change the coat of arms (or distinctive signs) of the funnel and distinctive signs, including the side coats of arms.

As is perhaps to be expected given her long period out of use, she is looking a bit sad for herself; hopefully the ship isn't too far gone to have a useful future - albeit I think she the damage from the engine fire which forced her to be taken out of use has not been fixed.

There was no offer from anybody ?
This ship is since many years a financial total-damage and the wished 3,2 Mio. are much too much.
Wondering about this unrealistic amount.
I would tax the scrap-price around ca. 2 Mio. only.

The deadline for bids is early September so there will be no news until then. This is quite an attractive series of ships to shipowners so we'd expect it to be snapped up if it was in working condition. The questions are how bad is the damage and what condition is the vessel generally in now after years of neglect.

On 4/10/2023 the auction of the ro-ro "Beniamino Carnevale" was awarded and from the sales portal it is known that only an offer worth € 3,250,000 was submitted on Monday 25 September.
At the moment the buyer is still unknown

Shipping Italy suggests the buyers of the Beniamino Carnevale could be Turkish.

Although the price looks high for scrapping it is just above the reserve price.

Oh Beniamino Carnevale what are you doing there!

She is aground off Rometta Marea in the north east coast of Sicily this morning, the line with the tug taking her apparently to Tuzla in Turkey having broken in rough weather.

Three tugs have been trying to shift the ship but there's no sign of her budging yet.
